What is CARPA?

CARPA is the Central Australian Rural Practitioners Association Incorporated.

Misson
To be a focus for multidisciplinary activity in support of primary health care in Central Australia.

Objectives
To provide, maintain and update a standard treatment manual for use in central and northern Australian practice.
To provide opportunities for multidisciplinary education and training.
To provide a multidisciplinary forum to address primary health care issues in Central Australia.
To provide a place for multidisciplinary interaction on primary health policy.
To provide a vehicle for primary health care workers to play a public health advocacy role.


What does CARPA do?

CARPA is involved in Primary Health Care and the education, training and support of health practitioners at all levels. CARPA is a loosely structured, voluntary organisation.

Its activities include:

  • Production of several medical and health manuals, including the CARPA Standard Treatment Manual
  • Annual two-day conferences, usually held on a weekend in May/June
  • CARPA core group activities
  • Addressing current issues of concern to it's members
  • Promoting communication between remote practitioners
  • Maintenance of an email discussion group
  • Publication of a newsletter
